Who can purchase medical cannabis in Minnesota?
Medical cannabis patients who are legal Minnesota residents and have been certified with one of the qualifying conditions are eligible to buy medical marijuana in Minnesota.
Can registered patients in Minnesota buy medical cannabis flower?
The Minnesota Medical Cannabis Program says:
“Dried raw cannabis will be allowed for registered patients who are 21 years or older beginning either on March 1, 2022 or at an earlier date if the testing labs and administrative rules are ready sooner. Patients and caregivers will not be allowed to grow cannabis at home but must purchase it from a registered manufacturer. Check the Medical Cannabis Program web pages for updates.”

What are the qualifying conditions?
Minnesota qualifying conditions are:
- Cancer*
- Glaucoma
- HIV/AIDS
- Tourette syndrome
- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
- Inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease
- Seizures, including those characteristics of epilepsy
- Severe and persistent muscle spasms, including those characteristics of multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Terminal illness, with a probable life expectancy of less than one year*
- Intractable pain
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Autism spectrum disorder (must meet DSM-5)
- Obstructive sleep apnea
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Chronic pain
- Sickle cell disease
- Chronic motor or vocal tic disorder
*Applies only if your illness or the treatment of your illness causes one or more of the following: severe or chronic pain; nausea or severe vomiting; cachexia or severe wasting.
