The state of Minnesota’s Department of Health oversees the Division of Medical Cannabis. You must be diagnosed with a qualifying medical condition to be eligible for the program. Follow these steps to get certified and registered before you shop with us at RISE:  

Veteran Status 

If you are a veteran, you can self-certify here with the state for free. You do not need a physician to certify you.  

Physician Certification Process  

1. Schedule a Consultation Appointment with your primary care physician or other qualified healthcare provider.  

2. Complete the Certification: During your consultation, your physician will evaluate your eligibility and complete the necessary certification. 

3. Pay the Certification Fee: Once your certification is complete, you'll need to pay the associated fee. Pro Tip: Complete the Medical Card Assistance Request Form to receive a special discount on your physician consultation appointment directly in your inbox. 

Medical Program Registry Process   

1. Wait for your approval email: Once you have your certification, you will receive a confirmation via email to register in the Patient Portal registry;   

2. Create an account with the registry.   

3. Complete enrollment process.

1. Complete your Self-Evaluation in your patient portal (required once per quarter).

2. Schedule your required appointment with a RISE Pharmacist to get registered for your medication dispensation. 

3. Visit risecannabis.com to place an order. 

4. Filter the menu based on “Feelings” or "Activities". 

5. Gather your required documents to shop including your ID and digital Medical Card. 

6. Bring cash or debit card with you when you make your purchases. 

7. Join RISE Rewards and earn your way to savings and insider perks!

Renewing your medical cannabis certification is essential to continue accessing the exclusive benefits that come with being a medical patient at RISE. These benefits include:

1. Pay Fewer Taxes: Continuing your patient status means you don’t have to pay the 15% state excise tax!

2. Enrollment is active for 3 years: As of July 1, 2024, your enrollment in the MN Medical Cannabis program is good for 3 years.

3. Receive In-Store Discounts: Maintain access to exclusive discounts on a wide range of products when you shop at any of our RISE Dispensary locations.

4. Free Consults with RISE Pharmacists: Get FREE product consultations with our knowledgeable pharmacists; they’ll help guide you to the products best suited for your unique needs.

Patients registered in Minnesota's Medical Cannabis Program must re-enroll every 3 years if they want to continue participating in the program. The Medical Cannabis Program will send you reminder emails 60 days and 30 days before your enrollment expires. You can also check your Registry account for the expiration date. If your account expires, you will no longer be enrolled in the program and will not be allowed to pick up medical cannabis. Follow the steps below to renew your certification: 

Veteran Status

1. Schedule a recertification appointment with your primary care physician or other qualified healthcare provider.

2. Pay the physician recertification appointment fee. Pro Tip: Complete the Medical Card Assistance Request Form to receive a special discount on your physician consultation appointment fee directly to your inbox.

3. Navigate to your email to find the link sent to you from the Registry after your certification appointment.

4. Log in to the registry.

5. Complete the renewal application.
