What Is a Pharmacist-Issued 90-Day Temporary Renewal Certification?
If your Connecticut medical marijuana registration has lapsed or is about to expire, you do not have to wait for a physician appointment before you can access the medical menu again. RISE pharmacists are authorized to issue free 90-day temporary renewal certifications following an in-person consultation. This service is available to eligible lapsed patients at all CT RISE locations and Bluepoint Westport.
Important: This service is for renewing patients whose prior registration has lapsed or is about to lapse. It is not available for first-time, new patient certifications. Per Connecticut state regulation, patients who have already received a pharmacist-issued 90-day temporary certification from any Connecticut dispensary this year are not eligible for another one until their registration period resets.
Why Your CT Medical Registration Matters

Letting your registration lapse means losing access to meaningful benefits available only to registered CT medical patients. Staying current keeps those benefits within reach:
- Exclusive medical-only pricing and product selection
- Exemption from retail sales tax with a valid medical registration
- Higher purchase limits (up to five ounces vs. adult-use limits)
- Access to pills, tablets, sublinguals, and formats not available to adult-use consumers
- Free pharmacist consultations for product guidance and education
- Priority service, including med-only curbside pickup and drive thru options at participating locations
How to Renew Your CT Medical Marijuana Certification at RISE
Renewing is straightforward. Here is what to expect:
Step 1: Locate Your Biznet Account
Log into your Biznet patient account at biznet.ct.gov. Your username and password from your original registration will still work. If you have forgotten your login, use the account recovery option on the Biznet login page.
Step 2: Schedule or Walk In for a Pharmacist Consultation
Book an in-person consultation with a RISE pharmacist at your nearest location or walk in during store hours. The pharmacist on duty will make every reasonable effort to accommodate walk-ins:
Step 3: Receive Your Temporary Renewal Certification
If eligible, the RISE pharmacist will complete your temporary renewal certification in Biznet. You will receive confirmation via email.
Step 4: Await State Approval and Get Back to the Medical Menu
After the pharmacist submits your renewal in Biznet, the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) must approve it. That process takes up to 48 hours. Once approved, your temporary certification is valid for 90 days and gives you full access to the medical menu and its benefits.
What to Expect After Your Consultation
Plan for a 48-hour window between your pharmacist consultation and DCP approval. Once the state approves your renewal, you will have full access to RISE medical-only products, pricing, and benefits for 90 days.
Before your next visit, make sure you are enrolled in RISE Rewards to unlock new patient pricing and benefits. Join at the store or ask a team member for help.
Take the Next Step at RISE

Ready to Pursue a Full Annual Certification?
A 90-day temporary renewal is a great bridge, but for uninterrupted long-term access, a full annual certification through a licensed physician or APRN is the best path forward. RISE pharmacists can walk you through your options during your consultation.
